Peachtree Volleyball

Summer Camp 2010 is HERE! Updates in RED are as of July 2, 2010.

Intermediate Level: July 26- July 29, 9:30am-12:30pm (10 spots left) . This camp is for the player that has some volleyball experience or has been on a few athletic teams prior, generally rising 7th- rising 10th graders (this age range is a general guideline, not a requirement - if you have questions, call Karen). Some competitive volleyball experience is required; the more the better. All skills will be covered: passing, setting, hitting, blocking, overhand serving, serve receive (5-1 and 6-2 offenses), defense, transition, diving and rolling and quick/combination attacks. Individual skills will be stressed, along with some "team" drills, movement and strategies. On the final day of camp, a tournament will take place to showcase their skills. Playing a match against the parents has always been a fun event and could be repeated here. Cost: $100 (includes a T-shirt) To register, complete and mail the July 26-29 Registration Form (10 spots left) as soon as possible. Space is limited.

Advanced Level: July 26-29, 1:00pm-4:00pm. (10 spots left) This camp is for players with high school competitive experience only (rising 10th-12th graders). This will be an intense, high-energy session with emphasis on mastery of passing, hitting, blocking, serving, serve receive, defense and transition. All skills will be overviewed on an individual basis and then put into team action. Multi-skill drills (i.e., serve receive to attack to transition) will be frequent. Offensive drills will include quick set and combination hitting, and 5-1 and 6-2 serve receive offenses and options. Defensive drills will include introduction of "rotation" and "middle back" defenses, multiple-player blocking schemes and off-blocker transition, and dives, rolls and pancakes. Ball contacts for each player will number in the 100s each day. Drills will have significant "cardio" aspects as well. Setters Only Clinic: Saturdays in July 17(4 spots left) , 24 (6 spots left) and/or 31 (4 spots left) , 10:00am-Noon. This clinic will be an on-going conditioning and skills clinic designed for setters only. Focus will be on ball contact, control and placement as well as anticipation, foot movement and body control. Sets taught will include 1s through 6s, 9s and slides, based upon skills of participants. Choose the days you wish to attend. Maximum coach to player ratio 1:5. Clinics will be co-coached by Natalie Eckman, setter for Wasabi, 2009 USAV National Champions, AA Division. Cost for one session: $50; cost for 2 sessions: $90; cost for 3 sessions: $120.
